Medical technology company Anitoa Systems has launched a portable RT-PCR test for detecting the presence of dengue virus.
The multiplex test, part of the company's Maverick line of RT-PCR devices, detects several target genes in a sample which have been shown by researchers to be highly expressed in patients who later develop serious symptoms, the company said.
Anitoa, a start-up established in 2013, is building a program to develop tests to help combat a series of neglected tropical diseases in low-resource settings, the company said.
