June 8, 2022 -- Quest Diagnostics said Wednesday that both demand and positivity rose steadily throughout May for its COVID-19 molecular diagnostic testing, but the pace of demand and positivity moderated toward the end of the month. Quest’s capacity per day for SARS-CoV-2 molecular diagnostic tests was 300,000 while its capacity per day for antibody tests was 350,000. The company performed 68 million cumulative molecular diagnostic tests and 8.4 million cumulative antibody tests in May, with a turnaround time of one day for the vast majority of the tests.

The diagnostic testing, information, and services firm also announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently granted it a contract to provide next-generation sequencing services to help identify and monitor variants of SARS-CoV-2. The contract extends a collaboration that Quest formed with CDC in January 2021 to provide variant sequencing to support public health efforts.
