University of Oxford spin-off OxDx has raised 2.6 million pounds ($3.5 million U.S.) in preseed funding to support development of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered diagnostic technology for infectious diseases.
OxDx said it will use the funds to expand the company and further validate its microscopy and machine-learning technology, which is designed to identify specific series and strains of viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens in a sample within seconds.
The funding round was led by IQ Capital and Ahren Innovation Capital with participation from Science Creates Ventures.
