The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) is working with the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) to sponsor a scholarship designed to promote diversity in science, technology, education, and mathematics (STEM) education.

Thanks to inaugural funding from Pfizer and Amgen, the new SLAS-NOBCChE Scholarship will support high school students of color in the U.S., who are frequently underrepresented in STEM in postsecondary education. The scholarship will help promote careers in science for students of color, and will include mentorship, networking, and early career opportunities.

Students who are awarded scholarships under the program will get $50,000 toward their undergraduate education in STEM areas. They will also receive mentoring opportunities and complimentary registration, housing, and travel to both SLAS and NOBCChE annual conferences. Finally, they will get the opportunity to present their research at these meetings.

More information on the scholarship is available on the SLAS website.
