The survey results show an industry struggling to replace retiring lab professionals at a sustainable rate while facing challenges created by the recent pandemic, Lighthouse said in a statement.
The firm added that its aim was to detect correlations between medical laboratory wages, morale, different departments, and experience levels following the previous challenging years for the lab industry.
Lighthouse's survey collected data from 1,100 U.S.-based individuals.
"We want to provide medical lab professionals with good, actionable data that they can take back to their [human resource] departments or managers to better understand the status of our industry," Jon Harol, president of Lighthouse Lab Services, said in a statement. "We also hope to inform lab owners and decision-makers of the feedback we received to help guide their future compensation and staffing decisions."
Harol will present the results of the survey at 2 p.m. CDT on July 27 at the 2022 AACC Scientific Meeting in Chicago.
