History: A 22-year-old woman with gestational diabetes presented at 34 weeks gestation and delivered a healthy baby boy. The placenta was sent for a pathology exam. A gross exam revealed a singleton placenta (750 g) with a homogenous, well-circumscribed, yellow nodule at the periphery. Gross images are provided. Click the images to enlarge.
