The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reapproved the College of American Pathologists (CAP) as an accreditation organization for clinical laboratories. CMS determined that CAP met or exceeded the applicable requirements in the CLIA of 1988, as reported in the Federal Register.
CAP accredits nearly 8,000 laboratories worldwide including large university medical centers, physician offices, and COVID-19 testing sites, to name a few.
