Thermo Fisher Scientific announced Wednesday that it has launched an automated sample preparation and liquid chromatography system for analyzing dried blood spots.
The Thermo Scientific Transcend DSX-1 integrated system eliminates the disc-punching associated with dried matrix cards and aims to optimize sample extraction and recovery of multiple matrices, including blood, urine, and saliva.
Its flow-through desorption with heated capillary eliminates the need for manual, time-consuming extraction protocols, and the automatic addition of an internal standard prior to the extraction minimizes matrix interference, the firm said.
