Working in partnership with LabCorp, Walgreens is planning a dramatic expansion of its drive-through testing services across the U.S., with the goal of tripling capacity.

The pharmacy chain will offer LabCorp's diagnostic nasal swab test in 49 U.S. states and Puerto Rico and plans to have the capacity to test 50,000 people per week. The swab specimen is taken by patients themselves with the oversight of pharmacists. Walgreens currently has 18 COVID-19 drive-through testing locations in 11 states.

"The scale and timing of the overall testing expansion is dependent on the availability of tests and overall lab capacity," Walgreens said in a statement.

LabCorp's antibody test for the novel coronavirus is available at 100 Walgreens locations.
