DermTech, Sonora Quest ink deal to broaden access to melanoma detection test

DermTech on Tuesday announced an agreement with Sonora Quest Laboratories to provide access to its melanoma test for people in Arizona.

Per the agreement, Sonora Quest will be the exclusive laboratory in Arizona to offer DermTech’s test to the lab’s network of healthcare providers, increasing its availability to healthcare patients there, DermTech said.

This could reduce the number of unnecessary biopsies, specialist referrals, and costs to the healthcare system, the firm added.

The DermTech Melanoma Test uses a noninvasive Smart Sticker technology to lift skin cells from the surface of a patient’s skin to be tested for select genomic markers related to melanoma.
