Hologic has received the CE Mark for its Genius Cervical AI software for cervical cancer screening. The software uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze precancerous lesions and cervical cancer cells on Pap images.
The new algorithm analyzes ThinPrep Pap images to narrow tens of thousands of cells down to an AI-generated gallery to find lesions and cancer cells. This arms healthcare providers with the critical information they need to guide earlier detection and better treatment decisions for the patients in their care, the company said.
Hologic now offers the first CE-marked comprehensive cervical cancer screening portfolio from sample collection to digital diagnosis. In addition to the new algorithm, the portfolio includes the Genius Digital Imager for image acquisition, the Genius Image Management Server for storing images, and the Genius Review Station for case review.
The complete package is scalable and designed to fit the present and future needs of laboratories, Hologic said.
