ASCP names 40 under 40, with perks for September meeting

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) has released its annual list of 40 members under the age of 40 who stand out for their leadership qualities in pathology and laboratory medicine.

The selection process for the program, which has been up and running for five years, includes applications and voting and is open to applicants inside and outside of the U.S. The top five on the list get a free ticket to the organization's annual meeting, which is scheduled for September 11-13 in Phoenix, plus $1,000 for airfare and hotel expenses:

  • Dr. Adam Booth, an anatomic and clinical pathology resident at the University of Texas in Galveston
  • Dr. Sarah Choi, PhD, a hematopathologist at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor
  • Dr. Deanna Fang, a director-in-training for histocompatibility and immunogenetics at the University of California, Los Angeles' David Geffen School of Medicine
  • Dr. Jennifer Kasten, an assistant professor of pathology and cardiology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital
  • Julie Papango, a medical technologist at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY
