Bruker has released a new SARS-CoV-2 assay that detects mutations to the virus.
FluoroType SARS-CoV-2 varID Q assay is a LiquidArray mid-plex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panel that uses nasal and oral swabs. It can detect a variety of mutations to the SARS-CoV-2 virus with a sensitivity of 98% and a specificity of 100%, according to the firm.
In addition to the original Wuhan strain, the test can identify the following mutations:
- B.1.1.7 (U.K.)
- B.1.525 (Nigeria)
- B.1.351 (South Africa)
- P.1 (Brazil)
- B.1.1.298 (Denmark)
It is CE-IVD marked, the company said.
