Eurofins Genomics has won a $30 million contract with the U.S. Department of Air Force and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to build a new production facility for manufacturing reagents used in COVID-19 diagnostic tests.
The new site will be in Louisville, KY, and will produce synthetic DNA -- also known as oligonucleotides, or oligos -- for molecular diagnostic testing, Eurofins said. Oligos are a crucial reagent in this kind of testing and are subject to supply shortages, the company said.
