Agilent has acquired artificial intelligence (AI) technology developed by Virtual Control, a software development company for laboratory solutions. Agilent will integrate the new technology, called ACIES, into its MassHunter software package.
Specifically, ACIES will be used with liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) and gas chromatography and MS (GS/MS) instruments. It automates the labor-intensive task of GS/MS data analysis, improving efficiency in the laboratory workflow from sampling to reporting, Agilent said.
As part of the acquisition, Agilent obtained the software and other assets associated with ACIES, and as part of the deal, core members of the ACIES team will now be Agilent employees, Agilent said.
