Roche announced that it has received the CE Mark for its updated Cobas 6800 and 8800 systems.

The improvements in the updated Cobas 6800 and 8800 2.0 systems are designed to optimize resources, reduce downtime, consolidate test menus, and increase throughput, according to a statement issued by Roche. The updated system is available as an upgrade to existing systems, Roche added.

The Cobas 6800/8800 systems are designed for mid- to high-volume molecular testing laboratories. However, Roche noted that the update incorporates significant innovations from the newest Cobas system, the Cobas 5800.

The majority of the Cobas test menu is available with the release of the update, including its temperature-activated generation of signal technology, according to the company. The technology enables up to 15 targets to be detected simultaneously in one sample on the Cobas 5800, 6800, and 8800 systems. The firm added that U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance will follow, with submission planned for 2025.
