Quest Diagnostics announced that it has completed its acquisition of outreach laboratory assets from University Hospitals, an academic medical center and community hospital network.
The acquisition was announced in July. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
University Hospitals’ integrated network includes more than 20 hospitals (including five joint ventures), more than 50 health centers and outpatient facilities, and over 200 physician offices in 16 counties throughout northern Ohio.
In a statement, Quest said that its laboratories in Twinsburg, OH, and Pittsburgh will perform testing, while University Hospitals will continue to provide all inpatient and select outpatient testing from its hospital-based labs.
Quest noted that the acquisition of University Hospitals’ lab assets expands its network of patient access sites and broad health plan coverage in Ohio and broadens access to its test menu to more patients and healthcare providers.
