Labcorp announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire select assets of MAWD Pathology Group's clinical and women's health testing businesses.

MAWD Pathology, an independent laboratory in Lenexa, KS, will continue to provide comprehensive anatomic professional and technical pathology and related services, Labcorp said in a statement. The transaction is expected to close in early 2025, subject to customary closing conditions. There will be no changes to operations or services until then, Labcorp noted.

When the transaction is complete, patients, physicians, and customers of MAWD in communities in the greater region around Kansas City will have expanded access to Labcorp's laboratory services and testing capabilities, the firm said.

The agreement with MAWD is the latest in a series of acquisitions and strategic partnerships that Labcorp has made with local and regional health systems and labs. In November, the Burlington, NC-based firm acquired the molecular testing site and other assets of independent laboratory Lab Works, in Birmingham, AL.
