Medical device developer Trudell Medical has reached an agreement to buy the respiratory diagnostics (RDx) business of Vyaire Medical.
Vyaire Medical filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June, announcing that it was intending to sell its business units.
Further details about the transaction were not disclosed. The purchase is subject to the court's approval and is expected to close in eight to 12 weeks. In a statement, Trudell Medical said that it plans to operate RDx as a separate business unit and to maintain operations in Germany and California.
The London, ON-based Trudell added that the acquisition will further strengthen its already strong market position in aerosol drug delivery and lung health devices with the addition of respiratory diagnostics.
Trudell Medical subsidiary Trudell Healthcare Solutions is the current distributor of Vyaire's respiratory diagnostics and ventilation devices for Canada’s healthcare system.
"Trudell has been an outstanding distribution partner for Vyaire RDx in Canada," Vyaire RDx CEO Will Throp said. "This well-established relationship serves as a firm foundation for Vyaire RDx to become part of the Trudell family."
