The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday announced it has authorized two COVID-19 antigen tests -- the Genabio COVID-19 Rapid Self-Test and the Watmind Speedy Swab Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Self-Test.
Each can be purchased over the counter without a prescription and performed at home, providing results in 15 minutes.
The agency greenlighted the Genabio COVID-19 Rapid Self-Test as a single-use test for people with COVID-19 symptoms and as a serial test for people with or without symptoms.
Performed serially, the antigen test is completed two times over three days, with at least 24 hours and no more than 48 hours between tests, the FDA said.
On the other hand, the Watmind Speedy Swab Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Self-Test must be used as a serial test for people with or without symptoms. It is completed two times over three days, with at least 24 hours and no more than 48 hours between tests, the FDA said.
