Harvard University and Wyss Institute spin-out Rhinostics on Monday announced an expanded partnership with LVL Technologies.

Through the partnership, Rhinostics will resell LVL’s decapper instrument and LVL will distribute Rhinostics’ automated collection devices in Germany and Austria .

Combining LVL’s decapper instrument with Rhinostics’ automated collection devices improves sample collection workflows, Rhinostics said.

Such automation eliminates manual bottlenecks during capping and recapping, increasing throughput and consistency while decreasing steps and reagent and labor costs, the firm said.

The partners have optimized Rhinobot, a version of LVL’s decapper instrument, for use with the Rhinostic Automated Swab. The polypropylene-based swab with an automatable cap can be used in diagnostic testing and life sciences workflows in areas such as respiratory disease, genomics, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and forensics, Rhinostics said.
