Horiba has expanded its position in lab chemistry by acquiring MedTest Holdings, a Michigan company that owns a number of IVD firms. The company sees the deal as complementary in expanding its research and development (R&D) and manufacturing capabilities in the IVD space.
MedTest Holdings owns MedTest Dx, Pointe Scientific, Clinitox Diagnostics, and Medical Laboratory Solutions. Horiba sees the deal as complementary to its Horiba Medical division.
The acquired companies in particular have expertise in U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearances under both the 510(k) and CLIA pathways.
