Accelerate Diagnostics is commercializing its Accelerate Arc and BC (blood culture) kit, a rapid microbial identification system for positive blood cultures.
The move to commercialize the Accelerate Arc and BC system follows the completion of its IVD registration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The kit allows for direct transfer of cleaned microbial cells to a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) spotting plate. It eliminates the need for batching multiple specimen tests, and it only needs two or three minutes of hands-on time to run, according to the company.
