Molecular diagnostics company XCR Diagnostics said that its molecular test for the novel coronavirus can produce results in approximately 30 minutes -- half the time it takes for existing coronavirus tests.
With verification and validation of its Xtreme Chain Reaction (XCR) COVID-19 assay now complete, the vendor said it can now petition the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use authorization. XCR's rapid chemistry format could enable laboratories to double or even triple the number of patients tested per day for COVID-19, according to the firm.
